Number-One Mission, Accomplished!

It's not as extreme as the makeover Lance Bass recently underwent, but Taylor Swift changes her look a bit in the latest issue of Marie Claire.

The young singer pulls up her hair and looks more serious than ever in a photo from the magazine. For someone known as much for her smile and bubbly personality as her impressive career so far, this is freaking us out a bit...

Inside the issue, Swift talks about her early success and how setting goals for herself was a helpful way of keeping her focus and priorities straight:

“I love having a goal, feeling like I’m on a mission. I love trying to beat what I’ve done so far. I knew that everything I wanted to happen could happen in Nashville. So it became my number-one goal to get there somehow.”

She's done more than just get there, that's for certain. Unfortunately, the city in question is still recovering from massive flooding in April, a situation Taylor has spoken out and prayed over.

Taylor Swift Not Secretly Dating John Mayer

Like a gerbil that hasn’t learned to avoid the electrified pellet, Star magazine keeps making ridiculous Taylor Swift claims despite disastrous results.

Last month, the mag alleged Swift was back with Taylor Lautner.

She wasn’t, and Gossip Cop busted it.

Before that, Star claimed Swift might play Lautner’s on-screen girlfriend. That was wrong, too. So was a story about the duo disturbing hotel guests with music lessons.

Now it appears the tabloid has tired of Swift-Lautner drivel… so it’s moved on to Swift and someone else.

The country cutie is “still having a love affair with notorious ladies’ man John Mayer,” claims Star.

“Still”? Um, Swift was never in a relationship with Mayer. But let’s see what the tab has to say.

According to a so-called “source,” Swift has been “meeting up all over the country” with Mayer, behind the back of her alleged boyfriend Cory Monteith. “Taylor will drop anything to see [Mayer],” reports the magazine. All he has to do is text her, another “source” claims, and she’ll “come running” “no matter what time it is!”

So let’s get this straight.

Two superstars with fully booked schedules — and whose every move is followed by a voracious press — have been meeting secretly from coast to coast at the drop of a hat?

Forgive us for thinking the whole thing is absurd.

But just in case, we reached out to sources close to Swift, all of whom tell Gossip Cop the story is complete nonsense.

Taylor Swift: New Album This Fall!

Taylor Swift makes her debut as the modern “flapper” in the May 2010 issue of Vogue (Sarah Jessica Parker is on the cover).

The country crooner will move into her own place in Nashville soon, have a new album by fall, and turn 21 in December. Of her new home, Taylor says, “It’s not giant. I didn’t want to have to MapQuest to get to the kitchen.”

Swift also admits, “Looking back on what these past two years have been for me, it feels like this magical dream of, Really? We toured all over the world? We played an arena in London? This is happening? Readjusting my goals and dreams has been something I’ve had to do a lot lately.”

Taylor Swift Biography

Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner dating again?

In all likelihood, this week’s US Weekly piece on Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner is tabloid truth-stretching up to its old shenanigans. The one-page “Taylor & Taylor: Back on?” article predictably spun L.A. lunch and dinner spottings of the duo as “intimate” and “romantic”. That they weren’t seen kissing or doing anything that a bona fide couple would do to confirm a relationship seemed of little consequence to US Weekly. Yet, I have to admit, such blatantly speculative stories give more credence to rumors about Kristen and Rob.

For one, Taylor and Taylor once admitted they were dating, and in December of 2009 said they were no longer a couple, but would remain friends. The fact that they appeared to be dating when they said they were, and not to be dating in the elapsing time since the breakup, found people taking them at their word. Now, consider Rob and Kristen: she has never admitted to them dating and initial reports that Rob did on two occasions could not be definitively confirmed. Yet, tabloid reportage on Rob and Kristen’s signals has been far less of a stretch than this week’s “Taylor & Taylor story”.

Taylor Swift To Receive Hal David Starlight Award At Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala

New York, NY- May 11, 2010- Hal David, Chairman/CEO of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, today announced that Taylor Swift will be the recipient of the prestigious Hal David Starlight Award, to be presented at the 2010 Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards dinner on Thursday June 17, 2010 at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel.

At the young age of 14, Swift signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music and in 2006 she released her self-titled debut CD on Big Machine Records. At the age of 17, she became the youngest person to ever single-handedly write and sing a number-one country single entirely on her own (“Our Song” spent six consecutive weeks at #1 atop Billboard’s Country Singles Chart). She is also the first female solo artist in country music history to write or co-write every song on a platinum-selling debut CD- Taylor Swift. In addition, Swift wrote or co-wrote every song on her blockbuster Fearless album, released in 2008. Fearless has sold more than 5 million copies, fueled by the multi-genre domestic and international success of chart-topping singles including “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me.”

Swift has sold more than 13 million albums and has numerous awards and accolades to add to her long list of accomplishments, including being the top-selling digital artist in music history, receiving the Artist of the Year Award at the American Music Awards, having the #1 best-selling album in any genre of music in both 2009 and 2008, and to be the first female solo country artist to ever win the all-genre GRAMMY award for Album of the Year. This year alone she took home four GRAMMY awards. In addition to Album of the Year, she was honored for Country Album of the Year, Best Country Song and Best Country Female Vocal Performance.

“Taylor Swift is one of the brightest musical talents to emerge in recent years, and represents the true epitome of the Starlight Award,” Commented Chairman/CEO Hal David. “She possesses an undeniable talent as a songwriter, expressive singer and performer, and we are proud to present her with this well-deserved honor.”

The Hal David Starlight Award, created in 2004, was renamed in honor of the SHOF Chairman for his longtime support of young songwriters. Award recipients are gifted songwriters who are at an apex in their careers and are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs. Swift joins the prestigious company of Rob Thomas, Alicia Keys, John Mayer, John Legend, John Rzeznik, and Jason Mraz – the past recipients of the Hal David Starlight Award.

Inductees at this year’s event include Leonard Cohen, Jackie DeShannon, David Foster, Johnny Mandel and Earth, Wind & Fire’s Maurice White, Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Larry Dunn and Al McKay. The prestigious Johnny Mercer Award will be presented to Phil Collins and the Howie Richmond Hitmaker Award will be presented to Phil Ramone.
